Our Sotheby's specialists evaluate property based on characteristics such as artist or maker, country of origin, provenance, date of execution, materials, dimensions, rarity, subject matter or type, and condition. We also consider comparable sales and past performance of works by the same and similar artists.
If your property is identified as suited for sale within the current market, a non-binding estimate will be sent to you via email for you to accept or reject. Once you accept the estimate, our specialists will contact you to sign a Consignment Agreement that will outline the specific terms of the sale of your property.
Upon successful submission, you will be provided with a reference code and sent a confirmation email.

Unfortunately we do not accept direct submissions from artists or creators. As an auction house, Sotheby's specializes in the secondary market. Artists are encouraged to contact galleries or advisors if they are interested in representation.
If you wish to request an estimate for your items, you must submit all the relevant information online through Sell with Sotheby's. Due to the complexities of our appraisal process, Sotheby's specialists are unable to properly provide estimates over the phone. The more detailed information you provide, the more accurately our experts will be able to appraise the value of your property.
